Connect Supabase to manage cakes

Product management needs a Supabase project for the database, photo storage and the owner’s sign-in. Until it’s connected, the shop shows the built-in sample cakes, and nothing can be uploaded or saved.

  1. Create a free project at supabase.com.
  2. Run supabase/schema.sql (and optionally supabase/seed.sql) in the SQL editor.
  3. Create the owner’s user in Authentication and add their ID to the shop_admins table.
  4. Add these to .env.local (and your hosting settings), then restart or redeploy:
    NEXT_PUBLIC_SUPABASE_URL=https://YOUR-PROJECT.supabase.co
NEXT_PUBLIC_SUPABASE_PUBLISHABLE_KEY=sb_publishable_...
